Ind. Gov. Mike Pence vows to defend state's new abortion law

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana's Governor says the state's new abortion law is constitutional.

The American Civil Liberties Union and Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky are challenging it with a lawsuit, but the governor's office says Mike Pence will work with the attorney general to defend the law.

It bans abortions because of genetic abnormalities and requires a burial or cremation for the terminated fetus.

In a statement, the state attorney general's office says that any law passed is constitutional until a court decides otherwise.
