LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A rally was held Monday morning to convince Walmart to build a store in west Louisville.

The Justice Resource Center held a "people's rally" this morning to convince the retail giant to put a location at the corner of 18th Street and West Broadway. The organization says the community needs the store on the old Phillip Morris property.

"Tell the mayor we know that he can make things happen if he wants things to happen," said Pastor Milton Seymore, chairman of the Justice Resource Center. "We watched the Omni Hotel, and how there was opposition that was there, and the mayor was able to resolve that within 10 days."

A lawsuit was dropped in November, challenging the Metro Planning Commission's approval of the proposed land for Walmart.

Some have opposed the urban design proposed by Walmart.
