LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- If you're tired of working out of your home kitchen, or you're ready to start your own food business, Chef Space may be the spot for you.

From pastries, to chicken, or a heaping scoop of pasta salad, local entrepreneurs are here to turn their hobbies into a profitable business.

"We've been cooking for family and friends for years," said Quincy Sands, lead chef at Marinations Catering. "We seen the sign outside and we rolled through and we said this is what we need to do and that's what we did."

Here, you can find food truck operators, caterers, package food makers and everything in between.

Chef Space opened in November, but is now offering the public a look inside the state-of-the-art facility in the Russell neighborhood.

The building is filled with people perfecting their crafts and making their dreams come to life.

"We help entrepreneurs or folks trying to start a food business navigate through some of the difficult parts of operating a company by taking some of the risk out and spreading out cost over a large number of folks," said Chris Lavenson, President of Chef Space.

Located in the former Jay's Cafe property, the owners wanted to pay homage to the Russell neighborhood by providing a space for food lovers to come together in harmony.

"Well Louisville --one of our strengths are food and beverage, and so we are a town that’s really poised to take the next food entrepreneur to the next level," Lavenson said.

Space in the kitchen starts at $600 a month and the chefs tell WDRB that it's worth every penny.

"Without question," said Sands. "When you can work for yourself, it's the best feeling in the world."
