Robotic seal helping Alzheimer's patients in senior living community

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A senior living community in Kansas is using a robotic seal to help people with Alzheimer's.

The robot has thousands of sensors, cameras in its eyes and 32 gigabytes of memory.

Studies show therapy sessions with the robot help Alzheimer's patients deal with anxiety and depression.

"Evie gets to know the residents on a one-to-one basis and gets to know them in a unique and personal way," Nicole Wheeler said. "But the family's just can't wait to spend more and more time with her."

The robotic seal is so advanced, it can even learn to recognize patients who are with her.
