LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two deputy jailers in Fulton County have been fired and arrested for allegedly helping an inmate escape.

Michael Hunter, 40, was recaptured early Tuesday morning in Hardin County. Hunter was on a work detail in Fulton County on Sunday when he walked away.

The Fulton County Jailer says deputy jailers Monica Mayes and Jason Smith have both been fired. They are charged with official misconduct and second-degree escape.

Hunter was serving time for theft, fleeing police and flagrant non-support.
