LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they've arrested a man after they found an elaborate marijuana growing operation inside his home, numerous firearms, as well as five children living in "deplorable" conditions.

According to an arrest report, police went to the home of 40-year-old Stanley Brinley just before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, on Hopewell Road, just south of the interchange between Taylorsville Road and I-265, on a narcotics investigation.

When police executed a search warrant, they allegedly found an elaborate marijuana growing operation inside, including lighting, irrigation, timers, ventilation equipment, and 25 marijuana plants, ranging in size from 6-11 feet tall.

Police say they also found 21 firearms, including handguns, AR-15 rifles, SKS rifles and shotguns, as well as between 7,000 and 10,000 rounds of ammunition.

According to the arrest report, police seized digital scales, several large bags of marijuana and smoking devices.

That's not all that was in the home. Police say there were five children, between the ages of 1 and 8 years old, living inside.

"The living conditions of the residence were deplorable, with trash and items strewn about the entire location," police say. "Multiple containers of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, uncapped needles and weapons were found laying in the open, easily accessible to the five children living in the residence."

Police say they found "signs of hazardous mold growth" while examining the marijuana growing operation.

"[The] presence of the marijuana, weapons, hazardous living conditions, and continuous subjection of marijuana odor to the children, along with Mr. Brinley's extreme indifference to the value of human life, placed the children at risk of serious physical injury," police say.

Brinley was arrested and charged with enhanced cultivating in marijuana, enhanced trafficking in marijuana, enhanced possession of drug paraphernalia, and five counts of enhanced wanton endangerment.
