SLIDESHOW: Frazier Rehab Institute's therapy dog celebrates fourth birthday!

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- One of Frazier Rehab Institute's star employees is a four year old. And he drools.

Charlie is a therapy dog -- and on Wednesday he celebrated his fourth birthday with a full-fledged birthday party, complete with cake and a party hat!

"He may be Frazier Rehab Institute's smallest employee, but Charlie has left a huge impact on so many patients across Kentuckiana," a news release from KentuckyOne Health states. "The friendly goldendoodle helps promote physical movement, emotional well-being, cognitive functioning / awareness and social improvements for patients. When he's not socializing with patients in the therapy gym, providing comfort, napping with patients and helping those in the animal assisted therapy program, Charlie likes to let loose and have fun."

The party was held for Charlie Wednesday afternoon, and included Frazier Rehab Institute employees and patients, as well as representatives from Paws With Purpose, Wonderful Animals Giving Support and Canine Partners for Independence.

Charlie was donated to Frazier Rehab Institute by Sharon Merriam, who owns DaeShar's Designer Doodles of Deer Park, Washington.
