911 calls reveal terrifying moments after three die in a car fire on I-64

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The 911 calls have been released from Saturday's fiery crash on I-64 in Louisville.

Three people, Samantha Owens, 21, her two-month-old baby, Liam, and her little sister Lauren, 9, died in that crash.

"We're on the highway right now and there's a bad accident. And three people are in the car," one caller told a 911 dispatcher Saturday.

That was only one of the many panicked calls made to emergency dispatcher Saturday night as drivers witnessed the tragic accident.

"We are close to Hurstbourne. The car is blowing up," another caller told dispatchers.

Police say the Owens were in a Hyundai going westbound when it was hit by another vehicle, and then it was hit by a third vehicle. The driver of the Hyundai, Liam's father, got out of the vehicle to talk to another driver when the Hyundai caught fire.

One caller told dispatchers, "The driver of the vehicle is running around saying 'What do I do? What do I do?'"

All three victims were from Clarksville, Ind.

Since the tragedy, a GoFundMe page was started for the family. By Wednesday afternoon, it had raised about $25,000 to help the family with funeral expenses.

A fundraiser featuring a spaghetti dinner will also be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday night at Colgate Baptist Church in Clarksville.
