LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they've arrested a man who stole more than $10,000 in jewelry from Meijer.

According to an arrest warrant, it happened on March 22, at the Meijer at 9905 Dixie Highway, near Citation Road.

Police say 50-year-old Christopher Sullivan and an accomplice entered the store and walked to the back of the jewelry counter, looking around the counter and walking out of surveillance range.

While the accomplice walked to the front of the store to pay for something, police say Sullivan went behind the jewelry counter, forced open the lock and removed jewelry worth in excess of $10,000. He then allegedly hid the jewelry and walked out of the store without paying for it.

After walking out of the store, Sullivan allegedly got into a car driven by his accomplice, and the pair drove away.

Police say witnesses recognized Sullivan's accomplice through video surveillance -- and officers were eventually able to identify Sullivan himself by comparing his picture with the individual seen on surveillance.

A warrant was issued for Sullivan's arrest on Friday, April 8, and he was taken into custody on Wednesday. He is charged with theft by unlawful taking of $10,000 or more.
