UPDATE: Police arrest Louisville man in connection with fatal shooting of teen near Churchill Downs
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the victim Thursday afternoon.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they've arrested a man in connection with the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old near Churchill Downs overnight.
According to an arrest report, 18-year-old Rion Graves was arrested this morning, at 8:30. He is charged with murder. Police say Graves admitted to shooting the victim, who has since been identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's office as 19-year-old Dustin J. Osborne.
Police were called to the home near the corner or Evelyn and Cliff Avenue, around 3 o'clock this morning. That's when LMPD officers say they found Osborne dead, inside. Police say he had been shot, but they didn't say how many times.
The coroner's office says he died of a gunshot wound to the chest.
Investigators say other family members were inside the home at the time of the shooting.
A neighbor says she knows the victim because he's friends with her son.
"I can't control what he does," said neighbor Marcella Wendelgast. "You know, he'd come over here and talk to me and I'd tell him, 'You better be careful, because you never know what's going to happen.'"
Multiple neighbors say teens are always going in and out of the house where it happened.
At this point it's not clear what led up to the shooting.
