LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer's "Give a Day" week of community service begins on Saturday.

Hundreds of volunteers from across Louisville will take on several service projects, ranging from building beds to installing fire detectors to completing exterior home repairs.

Mayor Fischer says his goal is to break Louisville's existing world record for caring and helping. The record was set last year with more than 166,000 volunteers and acts of compassion.
