Louisville Metro Housing's 'Vision Russell' plan seeks to revitalize neighborhood

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) -- Thousands of people in the Russell neighborhood get a chance to shape the future of their community.

The Louisville Metro Housing Authority is seeking neighbor input on part of the multi-million dollar 'Vision Russell' plan.

The plan is about revitalizing the area between Market Street and Broadway and from 9th to 32nd Street.

Meetings on Saturday with neighbors discussed crime and safety as well as a design plan.

"It's really all about the people who live in Russell. This thing has to be from the ground up. We can't just come in and say this is the best thing for you. That doesn't work, and that's disrespectful," Tim Barry, Louisville Metro Housing Authority, said.

The Housing Authority said there will likely be another meeting before a design plan is finalized.
