Memorial event held to remember victim of dragging incident

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Family and community members gathered Sunday to remember the victim of a brutal dragging incident.

It's been one year since Marvin Davey, 51, was killed.

A memorial event was held at the Garden of Angels in west Louisville to remember the Jeffersonville man.

Family members released balloons in Davey's memory.

They say events like this are helping them heal.

"The pain is not as deep but the pain is still there," said Linda Russell, Davey's aunt. "Even though it's hard, one year later, it represents us saying, Marvin we're not giving up. We're here, we care. And send the balloons to the heavens."

The Garden of Angels, the site for Sunday's memorial, is still a work in progress.

Once it's finished, it will be a safe place for survivors of victims of violence to gather to remember their loved ones.
