LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Jeffersontown Police Department has named a new police chief.

Ken Hatmaker was named the chief Tuesday night.

Hatmaker previously served as an investigation commander, one of three majors in the department.

He was raised in the rural outskirts of Jeffersontown on a family farm before earning a Bachelor's degree from the University of Louisville.

He has over 16 years experience in law enforcement.

The former chief, Rick Sanders, took a new job in March as Kentucky State Police Commissioner.
