Coroner identifies victims who died in Poplar Level Road crash

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The coroner's office has identified two young people who died when the car they were riding in crashed into a fire hydrant on Poplar Level road early Tuesday. 

Seventeen-year-old Ellisa Lucas was pronounced dead at University Hospital just after 6 a.m., about an hour after the crash in the 4700 block of Poplar Level Road. 

Christian Smith, 18, was pronounced dead at University Hospital at 10:43 a.m. 

Both victims died from multiple bunt force trauma. 

Police are still searching for the unidentified driver of the car, who ran from the scene after the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call 574-LMPD.
