LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police have arrested a man they say committed multiple business robberies in Jefferson County.

According to arrest reports, 36-year-old Jason Mathes is charged in connection with seven armed robberies.

On March 30, police say Mathes walked into the Hunter's Market at 6303 Lower Hunters Trace. He allegedly pulled a firearm before demanding and receiving business cash.

On April 11, he allegedly entered the Circle K at 4301 Preston Highway before pulling a handgun and demanding and receiving business cash. On the same day, police say he showed up at Aladdin's Food Mart at 2323 Rockford Lane and demanded money before running away with $138.

But police say the clerk got something too: a description of Mathes, which the clerk was able to give police. Police say that, according to the description, the suspect was a white male, of medium build, who was wearing a dark-colored U of L hooded sweatshirt, grey sweat pants and black tennis shoes. The suspect also had a tattoo on his left hand, which could also be seen on surveillance video, according to police.

On April 16, Mathes allegedly robbed the New York Clothes store at 8506 Preston Highway, demanding and receiving business cash and assaulting a store employee in the process, according to police.

On April 19, police say Mathes held a woman at gunpoint and took her vehicle.

On April 20, Mathes allegedly walked into the Walgreens at 7338 Dixie Highway, pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded and received business cash, driving away in the vehicle police say was stolen the previous day.

Police say they caught up with Mathes on April 21. According to arrest reports, officers spotted him driving the stolen vehicle, so they tried to stop him. Police say Mathes led them on a chase, crashed into a fence, then jumped out of the vehicle, running away. Officers eventually caught up with him and took him into custody.

Mathes is charged with seven counts of first degree robbery, theft by unlawful taking of an automobile, fleeing or evading and criminal mischief.
