Local schools could participate in free Narcan kit giveaways

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A life-saving drug may be coming to high schools in Kentucky this fall.

Narcan reverses the effects of a heroin overdose.

It will be up to each school district to decide whether to accept free kits being offered by Adapt Pharma. The pharmaceutical company is donating Narcan to any high school in the nation that wants it.

JCPS couldn't comment on whether the district will participate.

The Kentucky Department of Education will offer Narcan training in the fall.
