LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Some elementary school kids got a special visit ahead of Thunder Over Louisville.

The U.S. Coast Guard landed a helicopter in the middle of the playground at Brandeis Elementary this morning. The Helicopter is part of tomorrow's Thunder Over Louisville airshow.

Lt. Commander Christopher Artac of the U.S. Coast Guard said he was, "looking forward to the search and rescue demo, to show the public how we can rescue people out of the water and search for people that may be in trouble out in the maritime environment."

"We don't have many opportunities to talk to the public, so we like to get out whenever we can and show what the Coast Guard does with search and rescue, public safety and how we operate in the community," he added.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of Coast Guard aviation. A helicopter and fixed wing aircraft will fly in the Thunder Air Show.
