Southern Indiana businesses excited for huge Thunder crowds

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Saturday's big booms will mean big business in southern Indiana.

"(We're) beginning to do prep for what will be nearly 2,800 people on both of our properties," said Wes Johnson, owner of Buckhead Mountain Grill.

Businesses in southern Indiana are in full Thunder over Louisville mode with less than 24 hours until the big event.

"It's our biggest day of the year just as it relates to our sheer number of people," Johnson said.

More then 500,000 people are said to crowd both sides of the Ohio River, and between watching the planes and checking out the fireworks, Johnson says they're bound to build up a hardy appetite.

Meanwhile, vendors near Ashland Park are nearly out of breath to make sure this year's Thunder is a huge success.

Aircraft, fireworks, hundreds of thousands of people and a solid forecast ... possibly the perfect recipe for booming business during Thunder Over Louisville.

"It will be probably one of the best Saturdays I can remember," Johnson said.
