UPDATE: One person dead after fatal shooting in St. Regis Park

LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) -- Police responded on Sunday afternoon to a fatal shooting in the 2800 block of Woodmont Drive near Oxmoor Country Club.

MetroSafe received the call of the shooting just after 3:30 p.m.

LMPD arrived on the scene in St. Regis Park and found the body of a deceased female, believed to be the resident of the home.

The husband of the victim has been detained and is being questioned. Police did not officially name any suspects or say if anyone else was questioned.

People poured out of nearby houses to get a closer look at the scene Sunday afternoon.

"I heard one siren then another siren just sounded like they were getting closer and louder," said Amber Gates, who lives near the home where the shooting took place.

Neighbors that spoke to WDRB couldn't identify the woman who was shot or her husband.

The long time residents were left with little information.

"Oh it's frightening," said Gerri Byron, who told WDRB she has lived in the neighborhood for 49 years.

Investigators added that a child was found when they arrived at the home. Police did not release the age of the child but did say the child is safe and was not hurt in the shooting.

Police expect to have an update on the case late Sunday night. WDRB will continue to track this story.
