LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) -- A man is expected in court today after police say he murdered his own wife.

Police arrested 22-year-old Damien Lacambra late Sunday night, not long after police found his wife, 21-year-old Amelia Lacambra, dead from a gunshot wound.

Police say it happened just after 3:30 Sunday afternoon in the couple's home in the 2800 block of Woodmont Drive in St. Regis Park near the Oxmoor Country Club.

According to the official police report, Damien Lacambra called 911 and said that he had accidentally fired the weapon, shooting his wife. The report also states that Lacambra admitted to "pointing a gun at his wife and pulling the trigger."

Investigators say Lacambra stated he did not know the gun was loaded.

Investigators added that a child was found when they arrived at the home. Police did not release the age of the child but did say the child is safe and was not hurt in the shooting.
