LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Clarksville's newly constructed Court Avenue is now open to traffic.

The barricades were moved and a ribbon was cut Monday morning.

It's another community connection in the plan to revitalize the riverfront and south end of town. Plans include preserving the famous Colgate clock and creating a downtown area with apartments, restaurants, shops and entertainment venues.

The road opening is a small part of a big project.

"Yet many, lord-willing, will look back on this moment and recognize the commitment we now make to transition Clarksville out from its industrial past and into its future, into the information age and the global economy," said Aaron D. Stonecipher, of the Redevelopment Commission.

The full revitalization project will take 10-15 years to finish.
