LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville teenager accused of leaving the scene of a crash that killed two of his passengers faced a judge Tuesday morning.

A not-guilty plea was entered on behalf of 19-year-old Malik Caldwell in court this morning.

Police say Caldwell was behind the wheel of a car that crashed into a fire hydrant and telephone pole last Tuesday morning, on Poplar Level Road. Investigators say Caldwell was likely speeding.

There were three people in Caldwell's car. Two of them, 17-year-old, Ellisa Lucas and 18-year-old Christian Smith, were killed.

Caldwell is charged with not having a license or valid insurance, and leaving the scene of an accident.
