LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana State Police have arrested a Washington County man on charges of battery and marijuana possession.

Scott Hurst, 57, was arrested Monday night, according to an Indiana State Police news release.

Authorities say Indiana State Police troopers responded to a call on Borden Road in Washington County. When police arrived, officers heard yelling coming from inside a residence. Officials say "through the open front door, officers could see Scott Hurst allegedly committing battery on a female inside of the home."

Police then entered the home and took Hurst into custody.

Indiana State Police say that as officers investigated, suspected marijuana plants were located sitting in a kitchen window.

Hurst faces several charges including battery, intimidation, pointing a firearm, strangulation, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana, cultivating marijuana and interference with the reporting of a crime.

He is being held at the Washington County Jail.
