"Flash dads" group gives encouragement to Louisville school students

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A group of JCPS parents are helping elementary school students get excited for testing.

A crowd gathered Tuesday morning outside Rangeland Elementary School. A rowdy group of parents were cheering, and giving out high fives as students walked into school.

JCPS officials say it's part of an initiative of the Diversity, Equity and Poverty Programs Division.

They call it "Flash Dads," like flash mobs -- men in the community greeting and cheering on the children and staff as they come to school in the morning. They hope to show up at schools once a month.

The students are preparing for K-PREP testing in early May.
