LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- His restaurant went up in flames, but three months later, the owner of SuperChefs is starting over with a new location.

The restaurant is coming to the old Strati Wild Italian property on Bardstown Road.

"We're changing the way people are going to view restaurants,” said Darnell Ferguson, owner of SuperChefs.  “We are going to completely change this place around."

Ferguson lost his St. Matthews restaurant to massive flames in January.

While the cause of the fire is still unknown, the owner said it may have been a blessing in disguise.

“We got the Highlands. We wanted to be in the Highlands so bad,” he said. “This is the place where the foodies come. And we're a foodie restaurant, so we want to be where the foodies come.”

The kitchen is much smaller than what he's used to, but Ferguson said it will do just fine for his all new concept, which includes several new menu items and a new theme: Superheroes by Day, Villains by Night.

“We're going to switch our decor up when we close from 3-5 p.m. every day,” he said. “Dinner deserves its own concept, its own feel. It will be like walking into a completely different restaurant, and the food will compliment it perfectly.”

There will be about 30 parking spaces for customers in the back lot.

The new spot won’t have a private dining room like the last one, but instead, outside patio dining.

Before closing on the new property, Ferguson said he spent a lot of time traveling and learning from the best.

He even appeared on the Rachel Ray show and met his favorite chef of all time, Emeril Lagasse. He spent a lot of time working with Lagasse at his New Orleans restaurant.

“His best advice he gave me was not to forget my techniques that got me this far,” Ferguson said.

He plans to bring back most of his old staff and add about 20 new employees to the Highlands location.

He hopes to have the new and improved SuperChefs open on July 9, the same date he opened last year.
