LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It has been six years since Todd Pletcher tasted victory at the Kentucky Derby, and he's hoping the work he put into his horse Outwork pays off this year.

Heading into the Kentucky Derby, there's a buzz around Outwork -- and it's not just because his name sounds like a Rhianna song.

Pletcher has been feeling good about Outwork, especially after he held on to win the Wood Memorial.

"He's been galloping well over the track," Pletcher said. "Pretty much anywhere we've taken him he seems to have done well."

Pletcher likes his speed and his overall demeanor.

"He's got a laid back disposition," Pletcher said. "He takes everything in stride."

As does Pletcher, who is trying to win his second Kentucky Derby ever, and his first since Super Saver in 2010.

"This is when it gets serious and starts to get exciting," Pletcher said. "Everybody's kind of putting in their last bruises, and the field will start to gel and take shape."

Before you put any money on Outwork, keep in mind that Pletcher has horse running this year's Kentucky Derby entry this year: Destin, who beat Outwork in the Tampa Bay Derby.

"Anytime you have a horse win a race like that and set a track record, that's impressive," Pletcher said.
