LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Scott County got the go-ahead to keep its needle exchange program up and running.

The southern Indiana community was ground zero for an HIV outbreak.

Officials say the needle exchange has helped slow the spread among IV drug users.

The county recently asked the state to continue the program, since it was only approved to run through the end of May.

Health department officials say they just received word that their request has been approved.
