Thousands participate in KDF's Marathon and miniMarathon despite rain

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A little rain couldn't keep thousands of runners and walkers away from the starting line Saturday morning.

Participants from across the country took part in the Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon and mini-marathon.

The event also included a wheelchair mini-marathon.

Bryan Morseman, from New York, won first place in the marathon for the second year in a row.

"It feels good. You know, anytime you can go back to back at any race, it feels good. Ever since I was a youngster, I've always wanted to come here and win this. Last year was a dream come true, and to be back to back, it's just kind of speechless, in a way," Morseman said.

Morseman also said the wet weather actually helped him in the race.

He said the rain helped cool things off.
