Bloody Mary bar is a perfect way to entertain Derby guests

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Derby brunch is a perfect time to drink your vegetables and maybe add a little something to the mix. Enter the bloody mary.

Finlandia vodka's Wendy Treinen shows to turn a little tomato juice, spice and vodka into a refreshing way to entertain guests.

She has ideas for different spices to put on the glass and in the drink. And she can show how to get creative with garnishes to take your bloody mary recipe over the top.

Basic Bloody Mary:

1 1/2 oz. Finlandia Vodka

1 squeeze Lemon Juice

4 oz. Tomato Juice

1 stick Celery

1 dash Tabasco Sauce

2 dashes Worcestershire Sauce

Season with additional celery salt, horseradish, paprika or pickle/olive juice to taste.

Ingredients options for garnishes:

fresh mozzarella balls

cheese cubes

Dill pickles

Olives

salami

bacon

chicken wings

roasted red peppers

Green pepper slice

Celery stick

lemon and lime wedges

Winner: Aspen Creek Bloody Mary

Rim a pint glass with honey lime simple syrup, invert the glass in a dish of specially blended chili seasonings.

In a separate container mix:

5oz tomato juice

1/4 oz. A1 steak sauce

1/2 oz. olive juice

1/2 oz. lime juice

1/4 oz. lemon juice

1/2 oz. Worcestershire

In a glass over ice, pour 1 1/2 oz. of Finlandia Vodka, add tomato mixture. Stir and Garnish with a speared olive, slice of bacon, lemon and lime wedges.

Batch the ingredients below together:

3 green tomatoes

6 tomatillos

5 Serrano peppers

1 pint of pesto

1 large tablespoon of garlic (minced)

salt and pepper (about a tablespoon each)

?1 English cucumber, peeled and diced

Rinse and chop ingredients. Blend. Let sit overnight in the fridge. Chinos well (or push through a fine mesh strainer). ?Add a little of the remaining puree pulp back into the strained mixture for color and flair.

Combine i a shaker: 1.75 ounces of Finlandia Vodka, 2 dashes of sweet hot pickle juice, 4 dashes of green tabasco, and one lemon wedge. Top glass with tomato batch. Shake gently and pour over ice.

Garnish on a skewer: marinated beefsteak tomato sprinkled with salt and pepper, chunk of mozzarella and a basil leaf
