An inside view of Churchill Downs during Derby Week
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- From the backside to the frontside, WDRB in the Morning's Keith Kaiser explored Churchill Downs to give you a insight you normally wouldn't get during Derby Week.
He met the outriders who protect the horses and jockeys on the track during workouts and races.
He tracked down the track attendants who use their tractors and harrows to make sure the thoroughbreds have the perfect surface to run on. And he stepped outside the track to experience the charm of Wagner's Restaurant and special Kentucky Derby Festival Events.
The official bugler of Churchill Downs, Steve Buttleman, gave Keith a rare glimpse inside his home away from home near the winners circle.
We got a look at special Kentucky Derby Festival events like the gathering of regional radio stations for the Morning Line and first ever golf cart tours of the grounds.
These are just a few of the interesting features during this festive time in Louisville.
