LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police have arrested a teen authorities say was involved in several purse snatching robberies that happened in the St. Matthews area.

Diashaun Maddox, 18, was arrested Sunday, according to official police records.

Police say Maddox was allegedly an accomplice in the robberies. Authorities say two other people were also involved in the purse snatchings.

Officials say Maddox admitted that he was present when the robberies happened. According to police, Maddox also admitted to driving a vehicle that was used to commit the robberies. Police records say the vehicle was stolen.

Investigators say Maddox fled from police and crashed the vehicle at the intersection of Arling and Taylor Boulevard. Authorities say Maddox gave police another name and tried to pass himself off as a juvenile.

Maddox is charged with five counts of robbery. He is also charged with receiving stolen property, giving an officer a false name or address and fleeing from police.
