e-Ponies.com offers handicapping, "tweet tips" and more for picking Derby, Oaks horses
Handicapper Liam Durbin explains how his website works and gives us his picks for the Kentucky Derby.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Picking your Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks horses gets a little high-tech assistance.
www.e-Ponies.com is a tool for horse fans who want free or subscription help picking their horses. Liam Durbin is a handicapper for many well known publications, and he puts his knowledge and experience to work on the website.
Fans can get daily horse racing picks, and Durbin also has "Tweet Tips."
And for the more serious handicapper, there is the One Click Pony self-service tool. It can handicap any race track in North America seven days a week. You can use the default settings or create your own biases and save them. Create a different bias for all your favorite tracks. One Click Pony is free, but you do have to buy the data files from site partner, BRISNET.
This site was born in 1999 under the banner Digital Chalk Line. The picks are generated by a computer program written by the site owner, Liam Durbin. The computer program has been tweaked and extended numerous times but is still basically the same algorithm as it was when it was written the first time.
e-Ponies.com continues to grow in popularity, now dishing out over 1.3 million page views every two months. Visitors hit the site from 59 different countries.
