Despite rain, attendees in the infield kept spirits high for Derby 142

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The rain came and went in the infield for Kentucky Derby 142.

But it couldn't wash away the spirits of people from all over the country including Buffalo, New York to Washington state.

The infield on Derby is a unique experience

"I've been enjoying Derby so much. This is my first time, and I have been 'WHOO' for the whole time," said one infield attendee.

Safe to say, many people shared that feeling Saturday.

"We came on a whim, and I've never been and thought it would be fun to watch the horses and dress up," another attendee said.

For some, it's their first time.

"I came to Oaks last year, and this is my first Derby," one attendee said.

Then there are others, who haven't missed a Derby in 60 years.

"I came in 54', I missed '55, and I came again in '56, and I've been here ever since."
