LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) – Look out Baltimore. Here comes Nyquist.

The winner of Saturday’s Kentucky Derby left Churchill Downs early Monday afternoon, bound for Pimlico where he will begin preparations for the Preakness on May 21st.

“His training routine will be kept the same,” said assistant trainer Jack Sisterson. “Jog one day. Gallop the next, like we did his whole career.”

And like they did in the week leading up to the Kentucky Derby. Hey, why mess with a good thing?

Nyquist is scheduled to resume training Thursday. His connection is excited about the possibility of winning the Triple Crown but they are trying not to look too far ahead.

“We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves,” said Sisterson. “ We are optimistic going forward and again, we’re fortunate to have a horse like Nyquist.”

As expected, Nyquist boarded his van with zero problems. His connection continues to marvel at his ability to stay calm no matter what the circumstance.

“He is a pleasure to be around,” said Sisterson. “I suppose that’s one of his attributes he has of winning.”
