Affordable housing rally held at Metro Hall

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It's an effort to help secure affordable housing for everyone.

That was the purpose of an affordable housing rally held Tuesday at Metro Hall.

Some community leaders want Mayor Greg Fischer to allocate $5 million for the Louisville Affordable Housing Trust Fund.

More than 1,000 citizens are on the same page.

"Citizens of Louisville Organized and United Together" or CLOUT says the city has around 60,000 Louisville families that need a more affordable place to live.

The group says around 24,000 are considered "severely burdened."

"We cannot leave our most vulnerable citizens behind, as our economies recover and Metro revenues increase," said District 9 Councilman Bill Hollander.

CLOUT says Louisville's Trust Fund has funded 40 homes in the past eight years.
