LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Frankfort, Kentucky, mom has been arrested after police say she left her three children alone in a van in a parking lot.

According to an arrest report, it happened Tuesday night in the parking lot of the West Park Shopping Center in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.

Lawrenceburg Police were called to the parking lot after a witness reporting seeing three children alone in a van at that location -- one of whom was a small boy who kept getting out of the van and running around it. When they arrived, police say they found the three children -- the oldest of whom was two years old -- inside a 2001 blue Dodge Caravan, with no adult "in or around" the vehicle.

According to the arrest report, police say they found 23-year-old Erica Tracy, who was the mother of the children, inside a nearby Dollar General. She allegedly told officers that she'd only been in the store for 10-15 minutes, but the witness said Tracy had been away for at least 45-60 minutes.

Police say Tracy appeared to be under the influence, with slurred speech, small pupils and signs of confusion. Officers also allegedly found, "basically a shooter's kit that is commonly used for heroin use," inside the vehicle, which included two needles and a spoon with residue.

Tracy was arrested and charged with three counts of wanton endangerment, three counts of abandonment of a minor, three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

She is currently being held in the Shelby County Detention Center.
