Students create Monopoly game based on Kentucky and southern Indiana

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Actors Theater and Kizito Cookies replace Boardwalk and Park Place on a new Monopoly game.

Students at Silver Creek High School in Sellersburg created Kentuckianaopoly. It features only companies founded in Kentucky and southern Indiana.

Finance students spent two years on the project. They're selling the game for $25 each, with all the proceeds going to scholarships and charity.

"We made the game to sell to people so they could connect to businesses they didn't know about, or maybe knew about, but didn't know the history behind," said Jacob Atkins, a Silver Creek High School senior. "We have QR codes on game so that takes people directly to the history page of the websites so they can learn about the businesses and the entrepreneurs behind it."

Students will be selling the games at the school's flea market this Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. You'll also find it at local spots, including the Southern Indiana Visitors Center and the Muhammad Ali Center.
