Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Cute little penguins have join the Louisville Zoo -- and they have a fitting name. They're called -- wait for it -- "little penguins!"

They stand about 10 inches tall and are also known as "fairy" or "blue" penguins. They're found around Australia, on sandy beaches and in tropical landscapes.

Their new habitat at the Zoo, Penguin Cove, is now open.

The Zoo has had penguins since the 1990s, but these are a new species at the Zoo.

The Louisville Zoo is part of a global breeding project for the little penguin.
