LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Clark County Sheriff's Department made a traffic stop Thursday night that led to the arrest of a wanted man.

A vehicle was pulled over at State Road 62 and Decker Lane.

Turns out, one of the passengers was 44-year-old Fred Benavides, who was wanted on several arrest warrants.

Those include intimidation with a firearm, car theft and violating probation.

Benavides is likely to face more charges because investigators say he ran from Charlestown Police Sunday when officers tried to arrest him for violating a victim's protective order.

Police say Benavides led them on a chase in not one, but two stolen trucks.

Chief Keith McDonald says Benavides was also wanted for questioning in a several burglaries and thefts.

"We have had cases here recently where it seems like he's getting more desperate and a little bit more violent, we think a lot of this is fueled by, unfortunately, a dependency on narcotics," McDonald told WDRB News.
