POLICE: Suspects arrested for breaking into cars on LMPD's tow lot
Louisville Metro Police say they've arrested two people who were breaking into cars inside the LMPD tow lot.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they've arrested two people who were breaking into cars inside the LMPD tow lot.
It happened at the lot in the 1400 block of Frankfort Avenue, near River Road, at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
Police say 40-year-old Lonnie Grace III and 33-year-old Derrik Dowdy had no reason to be on the property of the LMPD tow lot when they were found there yesterday. Furthermore, police say they also discovered that several vehicles on the lot -- at least 21 -- had been broken into, and their radios taken.
Police say it wasn't long before they found a backpack outside a hole in the fencing of the lot. That backpack allegedly contained several car stereos.
That's when, police say, Dowdy admitted that he and Grace had been breaking into the vehicles.
Both men were arrested and charged with criminal trespassing and theft.
