LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Local veterans' groups and metro government will host their first veterans' resource fair and fundraising event in June.

The event will include speakers and exhibitors to offer help for veterans' employment, homelessness services and mental and physical health care.

Participants will include a Medal of Honor recipient and motivational speakers.

The free resource fair is scheduled 10 a.m.-3 p.m. June 23 at the Kentucky Center in downtown Louisville. A separate, ticketed speakers' event that night will raise money for three veterans' charities -- Active Heroes, Where Opportunity Knox and Coalition for the Homeless -- that have formed an initiative called Rally Point: Kentuckiana.

"Growing up in Louisville, I sort of wished that there was more support for veterans and military families. Now I see that constantly throughout our community. I see these great organizations coming together and fighting for these causes." Iraq War veteran Troy Yocum told WDRB News at the event's announcement Saturday.
