Jeffersonville Pride calls on leaders to include LGBT people in civil rights protections

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A small group is making big noise about Indiana's anti-discrimination laws.

Jeffersonville Pride held a rally outside City Hall on Monday calling on state and local leaders to include gay and transgender people in its civil rights protections.

City Council is considering a proposal to add an LGBT-plus ordinance to protect residents based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

"This is a conversation that has never happened before in Jeffersonville, and it deserves to happen," said Evan Stoner, head of the Jeffersonville Pride Festival.

The group is hoping a Fairness Ordinance will be passed and signed by June.
