LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The 349 freshmen at duPont Manual High School who had part of their college-credit exam postponed Friday will be allowed to take a different version of the test Thursday.

According to a letter sent to students and parents on Tuesday, Manual Principal Jerry Mayes says that "after working with (test administrator) ETS and the College Board, we have been given permission to administer Section II of the AP Human Geography Exam."

The exam will be at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Mayes said.

The move to postpone the test was made “to protect the interests of our students" after the test administrator, Educational Testing Service, learned of a potential issue, according to the school's principal, Mayes said.

A spokesman from ETS told WDRB on Friday that in order to "ensure exam integrity," ETS canceled a portion of testing at Manual and Assumption High School.

"Due to the logistics of time and space, Section II will be held at duPont Manual in both gymnasiums," Mayes wrote in his letter on Tuesday. "Students will be provided with their assigned locations on Wednesday."

Mayes thanked parents for their "cooperation and understanding while we worked to ensure that each of our students who studied diligently throughout this course would have the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge."

Jennifer Brislin, a JCPS spokeswoman, told WDRB that "ETS is still examining the issue and can’t give more details at this time."

"The test will be administered the same way, but students will take a different version of that portion of the AP Human Geography Exam than the version they would’ve taken on May 13," Brislin said. "This version was developed to the same specifications as that in the May 13 exam, with the same format, number, and types of questions."

When asked if there will be representatives from ETS or the College Board to oversee the administration of the test, Brislin replied:

"Neither ETS nor the College Board has indicated they will be at the test on the 19th," she said. "The school will administer the test."

Assumption Principal Martha Tedesco previously told WDRB that there were "no concerns raised regarding AP testing" at her school, which also planned to reschedule part of the test.
