Indiana State Police hold memorial for fallen officers, personnel

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- They died serving their state, some in car crashes and some from gunshot wounds, and they are being remembered on Tuesday.

Every year, Indiana State Police hold a memorial service for fallen troopers and personnel in Sellersburg.

Each of their names were read as a way for troopers to remember their colleagues who made the ultimate sacrifice, and to pay their respects.

"There's always daily reminders of how dangerous this job is, but when you have something like this, you realize you can't take anything for granted, but we have a job to do to serve the state," said Corporal Carey Huls, with the Indiana State Police.

Forty-six troopers and employees have died since Indiana State Police was created in the 1930's.
