2 people shot at separate scenes in the Parkland neighborhood

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say two shootings within minutes in the Parkland neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon are not connected.

According to LMPD, a man was found shot in the head along South 29th and Greenwood Avenue around 4:45 p.m.

Police say that man was taken to University Hospital, where he is not expected to survive.

Kimberly Starry lives near the scene. She described hearing a loud sound.

“I got up and said, ‘was that a gunshot?’” Starry said.

A short time later, Starry says her neighborhood was taped off as detectives were everywhere.

“I come back up to the front, and there they all was, right out here on the corner,” Starry said. “I looked and everybody was standing around on the sidewalk, and somebody was lying on the ground.”

"It really touched me. It really made me cry. It really made me shed a tear, because at the end of the day, that was somebody's child," said another neighbor, Asia Monroe.

No arrests have been made in that investigation.

Another person was shot in the chest just a few blocks away at 26th and Greenwood around 4:30 p.m.

The two shootings are not believed to be connected.

The victim is just 25 years old. Witnesses say he was shot inside a car, and the suspect pushed him out of the car and drove away.

When they heard sirens, neighbors hurried outside their homes to see what had happened.

"They got the street blocked off, and that's when I came out and said 'oh no, not again. Not again,'" neighbor, Norman Lewis said.

The victim was also taken to University Hospital, where he is expected to make a recovery.

"It's getting almost like LA now. You hear the sirens and see the helicopters and you think 'something's going on' and that's the scary part," Lewis said.

So far, no one has been charged in connection to that shooting either.
