LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- We're getting a look at the progress being made on the Kennedy Bridge makeover.

A new deck is being poured, marking the final stage for the west side. The new floor system is being built on top of the existing floor beams.

The improvements are expected to add decades of life to the 52-year-old bridge.

Walsh construction crews will begin working on the east side in June.

The Kennedy Bridge is expected to be closed until late October.
