Bevin, Paul and others preach Second Amendment rights, uniting behind Trump

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- While Donald Trump was a popular speaker at the NRA Convention, other influential political leaders also took the stage.

The message to NRA members was that in 5 1/2 months, the United States will face the most important election, and everyone needs to get out and vote.

All the speakers were heavily critical of President Barack Obama's time in office and had the fear of a similar one if Hillary Clinton was to become the next president.

Sen. Rand Paul and Gov. Matt Bevin say now is the time to unite behind Trump to protect the Second Amendment.

"Like many conservatives across the south, I'm a strong defender of the Second Amendment," Paul said. "Come to my house unannounced."

"How blessed we are to be Americans," Bevin added. "How blessed we are to have freedom and liberty. Let us not forget the fact that these things did not come freely."

Other speakers also claimed under that Clinton's watch, the United States could become more dangerous if guns were taken away from the good guys.
