Training courses teach Louisville families how to use Narcan

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It's a drug that can mean the difference between life or death.

Louisville families learned how to use Narcan on Saturday in case of an overdose.

"Every area in our community is impacted. There's not a zip code or district council that does not have people that have the addictions," Metro Councilwoman Marianne Butler said.

This is one of several Narcan Training courses that have taken place in Louisville.

Butler says for many families it means bringing their loved one back from the brink, and that an overdose can convince an addict finally to get help.

"As everyone knows, heroin and opiate use is really high in our community and a lot of these people who do have addictions do need help and families want to help them any way they can. So, this is an education for families and/or people who may have the addition on where they can get help," Butler said.
