LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) – There was no sophomore slump for the Louisville Cardinals. After taking the Atlantic Division last year, their first year in the ACC, the Cardinals did again this year.
And even though they won't be the tournament top seed this time around, they finished the regular season with a nice consolation prize: 46 wins, equaling a school record.
The 5th ranked Cardinals took care of Wake Forest Saturday 9-4. Louisville closed out the regular season by winning its ninth straight game.
Kyle Funkhouser won for the fifth time in a row, going seven innings. He gave up 3 runs on four hits, striking out ten.
Brendan McKay and Danny Rosenbaum each had a home run for the Cardinals who match their regular season high for wins set in 2010 and again in 2013.
Louisville opens up the ACC tournament next week as the tournament’s overall two seed.
